Sometimes, things fall apart.
The days are full of ruined plans, shattered dishes, sick kids, and mounds of laundry.
Sometimes, life is busy.
The days go fast and the minutes aren’t enough and we fly from thing to thing.
Sometimes, in the midst of it all, hearts are broken, expectations aren’t met, relationships struggle, regrets are made, and resolutions fail.
But there is One who can heal the brokenhearted; who can bring peace in the chaos; who can give courage when the day-to-day is too much to bear. He brings light in the darkest corners of every heart; He triumphs over every evil.
These glorious words of JRR Tolkein have always given me a profound sense of peace, and a sure way to ground my life on what truly matters:
Out of the darkness of my life, so much frustrated, I put before you the One Great Thing to love on earth: the Blessed Sacrament.
There you will find romance, glory, honor, fidelity, and the true way of all your loves upon earth, and more than that…”
There is nothing in this life that is more real, more certain, more unfailing, than the Love of Christ Jesus. And so you can be sure — beyond the slightest shadow of a doubt — that loving Him in return is good and true and right in the most profound sense of those words, unlike anything else can ever be.
In Him, you will always, always find the fulfillment that your heart yearns for. He’s waiting for you, with silent longing, in the Blessed Sacrament right now. Go to Him. Let yourself love and be loved.
