In honor of the closing of the World Meeting of Families today, I want to share with you some of the best of the Church’s wisdom on the beauty & the great destiny of The Christian Family.
– 1 –
All of the love that God has in Himself, all of the beauty that God has in Himself, all of the truth that God has in Himself, He gives to the family. And a family is truly a family when it is able to open its arms and receive all of this love.”
–Pope Francis, World Meeting of Families, 2015
– 2 –
Through God’s mysterious design, it was in that [Holy] Family [of Nazareth] that the Son of God spent long years of a hidden life. It is therefore the prototype and example for all Christian families. It was unique in the world. Its life was passed in anonymity and silence in a little town in Palestine. It underwent trials of poverty, persecution and exile. It glorified God in an incomparably exalted and pure way.
And it will not fail to help Christian families — indeed, all the families in the world — to be faithful to their day-to-day duties, to bear the cares and tribulations of life, to be open and generous to the needs of others, and to fulfill with joy the plan of God in their regard.”

Where does love begin? It begins at home. Let us learn to love in our family. In our own family, we may have very poor people, and we do not take the time to notice them. We have no time to smile, no time to talk with each other. Let us bring that love, that tenderness, into our own homes, and you will see the difference.
–Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta
– 4 –
The love of husband and wife is the force that welds society together. Men will take up arms and even sacrifice their lives for the sake of this love.”
– 5 –
Each family finds within itself a summons that cannot be ignored, and that specifies both its dignity and its responsibility: family, become what you are.”
